THE USE OF ICT IN ENGLISH LANGUAGE TEACHING.

Over the past few decades there has been an upsurge of interest in searching a contemporary instrument to promote language teaching. Based on the previous review of literature, there is widespread consensus that the technological changes paved the way for meeting the needs of ever changing world. It is prerequisite for equipping language learners with necessary technological skills. The application of ICT requires certain language skills and strategies.

Introducing ICT into language classroom has great implications for curriculum reform, classroom teaching and student learning. The implementation of ICT into real language context is more critical today than ever before since its growing power and capabilities are triggering a change in language learning environment. A great number of studies have been conducted to examine the advantages of integrating ICT into foreign language education.

In my opinion the use of ICT in an English teaching-learning process is essential nowadays, what I mean to say is that trough this pandemic we have been working with digital tools that are part of technology, so that we are lokking at this technologies like an useful way to teach trough distance, although this may be true, there still exist a digital gap, in other words, we all do not have acces to technology, henceforth wa are not having a succesfull learning.

In conclusion The New Medium Consortium mentioned the technological areas that potentially contribute to the field of education as follows. In other words, the process of teaching and learning is not confined to the classroom setting any longer, it is enhanced beyond the classroom via these social networking sites where learners can engage in a communicative platform that «facilitate collaborative discussion, exchange of opinions, and critical thinking» . Intelligent Searching, which is the third area, enables learners to search, organize and retrieve data in a more effective way.
